Anniversaries are the perfect excuse to escape into the mountains for a little rest and relaxation. Keula and Scott had just that idea for their 11th wedding anniversary and celebrated their marriage this spring at LeFay Cottage at Little Washington. The two dreamed of a romantic and relaxing weekend away from the city. The cottage was a great spot for a magical weekend together!
Sally Anne, Proprietor of LeFay created a magical and romantic atmosphere for the bride and groom to celebrate, right from the start! Upon their arrival, Keula and Scott found a beautiful set up. They were welcomed with champagne, flowers, a thoughtful card, and a delicious fruit display. Romantic music was playing in the background upon their arrival. Their romantic weekend away from the city was off to a great start!
That evening, they decided to enjoy a night of casual dining and headed to visit Griffin Tavern, in Flint Hill. The Tavern is definitely a great option for delicious, casual food and drinks. Their staff makes you feel so welcome and at home. After their meal, they decided to return to the cottage to unwind and enjoy the beautiful sunset. It was the time to enjoy chocolate covered strawberries and champagne outside on the grounds looking at Old Rag Mountain! What a way to celebrate their first relaxing day.
“Waking up in the morning, and enjoying our coffee and light breakfast in front of the Blue Ridge Mountains was so blissful”, said Keula. To up the relaxation factor, Keula and Scott had Abracadabra Massage come over to the Cottage for luxurious pampering with a one hour massage each! We can’t think of anything more relaxing than a great massage in the outdoors enjoying the mountains!
That evening, they had plans to dine at the 3 Star Michelin rated Inn at Little Washington for a divine culinary experience, so a relaxing day ensued with a short walk up the old dirt road to Little Washington Winery for a wine tasting, paired with a chaucuterie board and more fantastic views of Old Rag Mountain.
Having the opportunity to dine at the Inn at Little Washington is something Keula and Scott had never experienced. They were excited for such a special moment to enjoy their Anniversary. This was going to be a truly amazing culinary experience! Cocktails and the Inn’s famous truffle popcorn were enjoyed in the beautifully decorated parlor as they began their evening. They then moved into the dining room to savor the AMAZING dishes Patrick O’Connell, Chef Extraordinaire and his amazing team had created. Truly a dining experience fit for a King and Queen! Upon returning back to the cottage, they enjoyed sitting outside on the deck and seeing the beautiful starry sky! It had been truly a perfect day and evening to commemorate their anniversary.
The next morning, the sky was clear and it was another beautiful day in Rappahannock. Their final day to enjoy their anniversary was here! Of course, no trip to Rappahannock, Virginia would be complete without experiencing some of the local wineries, breweries and distilleries that the area has to offer! Just a short drive from the cottage is Gadino Cellars and Quievremont Winery, (where you can love on their goats while sampling their wines). And, if you enjoy whiskey and beer, Copper Fox Distillery, Pen Druid Brewing and Hopkins Ordinairy all have different experiences. There’s something for everyone – from enjoying the mountain views to enjoying tours of their facilities. What a way to end the trip!
