About Us
The LeFay Enchanted Garden Initiative: Our Mission
This Initiative is the dedicated action arm of the LeFay Way of Life, focused on hands-on stewardship and environmental education.
Our Guiding Principles
Healing The Earth. Preserving The Future
Mission
The LeFay Enchanted Garden Initiative was created to play a significant role in helping to generate awareness, education and engagement that empowers communities to preserve and heal Mother Earth, protect our natural resources and inspire citizens of all ages to see themselves as stewards of our earth.
Vision
We believe that enriching the preservation of our natural world and promoting stewardship of its wellbeing begins with each of us. Together, we can model and replicate what one very special community can accomplish! The Initiative is designed to grow. We intend to inspire chapters beyond our community to follow our mission. With the help of many forward-thinking public and private alliances we see sharing our model as central to our work.

LeFay Cottage at Little Washington is the home base for the LeFay Enchanted Garden Initiative, a mission-driven project (soon to be a non-profit) dedicated to hands-on conservation and creating enchanted gardens.

Becoming part of our community through the LeFay Enchanted Circle, The LeFay Enchanted Garden Initiative means becoming a partner with our environment, and supporting activities to preserve, protect, and find joy in our natural world. With the help of many forward-thinking public and private alliances we see sharing our model as central to our work.
Our first garden is on The Sperryville Trail on The Thornton River in Rappahannock County, Virginia and is powered by the commitment of adults, children, educators, physicians, gardeners, citizens, and businesses. Our members continue to create our enchanting garden with whimsy, native plants and trees; to promote healing, preservation, and kinship with our Natural World.
The LeFay Enchanted Garden Initiative is currently operating as a mission-driven project of LeFay Cottage and is in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. We are dedicated to providing ethical, transparent stewardship and will update the community immediately upon final IRS approval. All funds and resources allocated to the Initiative are currently managed with non-profit standards of transparency.
How We Started
With gratitude, we thank The Baltimore Faerie Faire, Mythicon and the Richmond Faerie Federation who celebrated International Faerie Day at the Cottage’s Love Lavender Farm in 2024. At this event our Fae community sparked the beginning of the LeFay Enchanted Circle preservation group, based in Rappahannock, VA.
Proceeds from the event were given to the Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia as well Sperryville Alliance for our FIRST Enchanted Garden project and the idea of adopting a section of the Sperryville Trail on The Thornton River in Sperryville, Virginia, was born, with the intent to beautify, preserve and generate awareness to our cause, which would be our first and ongoing earth project.
LeFay Enchanted Garden proposal: IMAGINE. BELIEVE, DREAM was created by a donation by Guy Williams, Landscape designer, from DCA Landscape Design, Washington DC. The plan was approved by The Sperryville Alliance (SCA) Board, a non-profit that built and maintains the Trail on September 8, 2024.

Enchanted Garden Plan
The design of the garden was created with a playful and interactive approach to support a biodiverse habitat. The habitat fosters curiosity for users to explore native and pollination plantings and inspire visitors to create similarly themed gardens at home. Our members continue to create and enhance our enchanting garden with whimsy, native plants and trees; to promote healing preservation, and kinship with our Natural World.

The Crowning Ceremony at LeFay Cottage at Little Washington
On International Faerie Day, June 24, 2025, we began a program to create awareness and inspire young people in our community with a summer camp offered through Rappahannock County Public School SPARK DAY CAMP in collaboration with the Headwaters Foundation. Students participated in two special nature-based enrichment experiences, connecting with nature and enchantment through hands on activities designed to spark imagination and environmental stewardship of our Earth.
We have crowned 20 first grade Faeries who have pledged to heal and preserve the Earth. We are excited to continue to encourage communities to learn about the environment and experience the joy of living in accord with our natural world.
